Have you ever thought about how many time you answer questions each day? From the time you wake-up to the time you go to sleep your day is filled with questions. You’ve probably noticed that most questions begin with one of these six words: who, what, when, where, why or how. We call these the Five Ws (and an H).
While many questions can be answered with a simple yes or no, some require a little more work. In this class you are expected to answer questions with complete sentences.
Read these questions and answers:
Q: Who was Simon Kenton?
A: Simon Kenton was a frontiersman.
Q: When did he live?
A: He lived from 1755 to 1836.
In these examples, you can see that some words from the questions were used again to form the answers.
Here are some more examples:
Q: Why is Simon Kenton famous?
A: Simon Kenton is famous for helping to keep the frontier safe.
Q: How old was Simon Kenton when he died?
A: Simon Kenton was 81 years old when he died.
Q: Where is he buried?
A: He is buried in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana, Ohio.
